HKU is Hong Kong's oldest university, admitting international qualification holders through a rolling International/Non-JUPAS scheme that runs from autumn until a final closing date the following August. Tuition for non-local students is HK$224,000 a year in non-STEM faculties and HK$249,000 in STEM faculties.

HKU tuition for non-local students is set by faculty group rather than as one flat figure. For the 2026/27 cohort: HK$224,000 a year for non-STEM faculties (Architecture, Arts, Business and Economics, Education, Law, Social Sciences, School of Future Media) and HK$249,000 a year for STEM faculties and schools, which carry an additional STEM fee (Dentistry, Engineering, Medicine, Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computing and Data Science, Innovation). Fees are payable in two instalments across the academic year and are reviewed annually.
