University of Graz Admission 2027: Deadlines, Fees, Requirements

Admission at a glance

The University of Graz sets separate application windows by programme and level. For summer semester 2027, both bachelor's/diploma and master's programmes without an entrance exam apply from 16 November to 14 December 2026. For winter semester 2026/27, general bachelor's/diploma and master's-with-entrance-exam applications ran 15 June to 13 July 2026, master's without entrance exam ran 11 May to 8 June 2026, and several bachelor's programmes with their own entrance exam (biology, pharmacy, sports science, teacher training, microbiology, psychology) had individually later windows through August 2026. Applying outside the correct window can bring a two-semester reapplication ban, so applicants need to apply within their specific deadline. Applicants must show their general university entrance qualification is met, have their educational documents legalised under the Austrian Code of Civil Procedure, and provide a court-certified translation for documents not already in German or English. The general English requirement is higher than at some other Austrian universities: C1 level, meaning IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 95 (or 5 on the new scale from 2026), or PTE Academic 76, with certificates valid up to five years. German-taught programmes need at least A2 German to apply, and C1 German to actually begin studies. Third-country nationals pay tuition of EUR 726.72 a semester from their first semester, and students from the poorest countries listed in the university's Tuition Fee Regulation pay only the ÖH union fee. No official page found during this research states an application fee for general admission.

Requirements

Bachelor and diploma

General university entrance qualification met in the country of origin, submitted with legalised documents and a court-certified translation where the original is not in German or English. Several bachelor's programmes (biology, pharmacy, sports science, teacher training, microbiology, psychology) run their own entrance exam with a separate, later deadline. German-taught programmes need German A2 to apply and C1 to start; English-taught programmes need English at C1 (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL iBT 95, PTE 76).

Master

A completed bachelor's degree recognised as giving entry to the field. Most master's programmes admit without an entrance exam in a window that opens earlier than the bachelor's window; Master's Psychology runs its own entrance exam. Language requirement follows the programme: German A2 to apply/C1 to start for German-taught programmes, or English C1 for English-taught programmes.

PhD

A completed master's degree or equivalent and admission to a doctoral programme.
