New international students apply for the NTNU International Student Scholarship inside the admission application itself, through the same channel and by the same deadline, and only applicants who hold no Taiwan government scholarship are eligible. An undergraduate award waives tuition and miscellaneous fees for both semesters of the first year. A master's award waives the baseline tuition and the basic credit fees for both semesters of the first year. A doctoral award covers the first year the same way, then the second year on the recommendation of the programme, and in the third year the baseline tuition only, again on recommendation. The revised regulations apply from the 2027 spring intake onwards. The award is withdrawn, and the waived amount reclaimed in proportion, if the holder fails to register in the year of admission, suspends study, is expelled or transfers out. Separately, the university's brochure describes the government routes open to students in Taiwan: the Ministry of Education Taiwan Scholarship pays tuition support of up to NT$40,000 plus NT$15,000 a month for a bachelor's student and NT$20,000 a month at master's and doctoral level, for four, two and four years respectively, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarship pays NT$33,000 a month. Both are applied for at a Taiwan embassy or mission abroad, not at the university.
