Taiwanese universities charge per semester, and two semesters make an academic year. International students pay roughly double what local students pay for the same programme.
At National Taiwan University for the 2026/27 academic year, an international undergraduate enrolled during or after 2011/12 pays, per semester including fees: NT$50,460 in Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Law; NT$58,520 in Science, Bio-resources and Agriculture; NT$58,940 in Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; NT$62,100 in Medicine excluding the departments of Medicine and Dentistry, and in Public Health; NT$51,220 for Management, General Education and the International Sports Affairs bachelor programme; NT$60,520 in Life Science; NT$60,000 in the Global Undergraduate Program in Semiconductors; NT$72,340 in Dentistry; and NT$79,120 in Medicine. Credit fees, charged where a student takes fewer credits or extra programmes, run from NT$2,040 to NT$2,300 per credit for international students.
The same table shows the local rate for comparison, from NT$25,230 to NT$39,560 a semester, so the international premium is close to double. Applicants holding a MOFA Taiwan Scholarship or R.O.C. permanent residency are charged the local rate.
Fee rules have small but expensive details. NTU charges full tuition and four-fifths of the fees during internship years in dentistry, pharmacy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. A student in an extension year pays full tuition and fees if taking 10 credits or more, and per-credit fees at 9.5 credits or fewer. Teacher education courses, language practicums and the biotechnology programme add credit fees on top.
