Admission at a glance

NTU runs one undergraduate intake a year for students presenting international qualifications such as A-Levels, IB or CBSE/ISC results, with the academic year starting in late July or early August. Applicants apply online and pay a non-refundable, non-waivable application fee of S$25, whether or not the application succeeds. English proficiency is demonstrated with IELTS (Overall 6, Writing 6, Speaking 6) or TOEFL iBT (90, Speaking 25 on the pre-2026 scale; a rescaled Overall 4.5 with Speaking 4.5 for tests from January 2026), with results valid for two years before the deadline. NTU's tuition, like NUS, is charged per school and depends heavily on whether the MOE Tuition Grant applies: before the grant, non-laboratory programmes cost S$36,350 a year, laboratory-based programmes S$40,600, and Business S$45,600, all inclusive of GST. Students taking the Tuition Grant must sign an agreement to work for a Singapore entity for three years after graduating, the same obligation that applies at every autonomous university in Singapore. NTU had not published its August 2027 application window as of September 2026; the most recently published cycle, for August 2026 entry, opened with an early round closing 20 January 2026 and a main round closing 19 March 2026. Offer holders then apply separately to ICA for the Student's Pass once they accept a place.
