Admission at a glance
NUS admits undergraduates presenting International Qualifications (A-Levels, IB, CBSE/ISC, and other national school-leaving certificates) through a single online application on the NUS admissions portal. Applicants are assessed on academic merit and open competition against their qualification's prerequisites, and are asked to submit predicted or actual results by the closing date since shortlisting for tests and interviews runs on actual results where available. The non-refundable application fee for undergraduates with international qualifications is S$20, while graduate coursework applicants pay S$100. English proficiency is required unless the applicant's prior education was conducted fully in English; NUS accepts IELTS Academic (6.5 overall, reading and writing), TOEFL iBT (92, moving to a 0-120 rescaled score from 21 January 2026), PTE Academic (62), C1 Advanced (180) or MUET. Tuition is charged per faculty rather than as one university-wide figure, and the amount a student without the MOE Tuition Grant pays is far higher than the subsidised, grant-linked rate: for the AY2026/2027 cohort, Computing and most Engineering and Science programmes cost S$39,700 a year without the grant against S$21,400 with it, Business is S$33,400 against S$22,200, and Law is S$44,450 against S$30,450. Professional programmes such as Medicine, Dentistry and Music sit well outside this range. Graduate coursework programmes such as the Master of Computing publish their own deadlines and fees separately from the undergraduate cycle. Applicants intending to study on campus in Singapore must also budget for the Student's Pass, applied for separately through ICA's SOLAR system once an offer is accepted.
