Admission at a glance

Multimedia University (MMU) is a private university originally built around Telekom Malaysia's technology and telecommunications interests, with its main campus at Cyberjaya, Selangor, and a second campus in Melaka focused on creative multimedia, business and some engineering and IT programmes. International applicants need a qualification equivalent to Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) Level 6 for a degree, or MQF Level 3 or 4 for a diploma or certificate. MMU does not charge to apply; the first payment obligation is a one-off, non-refundable RM 7,000 due once an offer is accepted, made up of a RM 2,000 registration fee, a RM 3,500 international processing fee for the student visa, and a RM 1,500 deposit (online-only programmes pay a lower RM 4,000 total). MMU's English requirement varies by programme rather than following one institution-wide figure: diploma and foundation programmes generally ask for IELTS 4.0 to 5.0, most Bachelor's (Honours) degrees ask for IELTS 5.0, and several multimedia, design, animation and finance-related degrees ask for IELTS 5.5 to 6.0; applicants who fall short receive a conditional offer and complete MMU's own English Proficiency Programme before starting their main studies. MMU publishes tuition as a whole-programme figure by faculty: the Faculty of Applied Communication's three-year degrees total about RM 64,750, most Faculty of Management three-year degrees total RM 67,250 (Accounting is higher, at RM 78,600), Computing, Creative Multimedia and Cinematic Arts three-year degrees total about RM 77,250, and the four-year Faculty of Engineering and AI degrees total the highest published figure, RM 94,500.
