Multimedia University Admission Requirements 2026 for International Students

Multimedia University (MMU) is a private university with its main campus at Cyberjaya, Selangor, and a second campus in Melaka, known for computing, engineering and creative multimedia programmes. It charges no separate application fee, sets English minimums from IELTS 4.5 to 6.0 depending on programme, and bills whole-programme tuition from about RM 64,750 to RM 94,500.

Requirements

Diploma and foundation

A qualification equivalent to MQF Level 3 or 4. English requirement generally IELTS 4.0 to 5.0 depending on programme.

Bachelor's degree

A qualification equivalent to MQF Level 6. English requirement generally IELTS 5.0 for most programmes, rising to IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 for several multimedia, design, animation, visual effects, cinematic arts and finance-related degrees. Applicants who fall short of the required score are given a conditional offer and complete MMU's own English Proficiency Programme (EPP) before starting the main programme.

How to apply

Apply online through MMU's application portal (mmu.edu.my/apply-now) with a valid email address.
Complete the application form and submit supporting documents.
Receive the outcome and, if successful, the Letter of Offer.
Pay the one-off RM 7,000 acceptance payment (RM 2,000 registration, RM 3,500 international processing fee, RM 1,500 deposit; RM 4,000 total for fully online programmes).
MMU applies to EMGS for the Visa Approval Letter (eVAL) as part of the international processing fee; the student then completes the Single Entry Visa (if required), travel, arrival medical screening and Student Pass endorsement steps set by EMGS and Immigration, a process MMU estimates takes six to eight weeks in total.

English test waiver

The minimum varies by programme: diplomas and foundation programmes accept IELTS 4.0 to 5.0, most bachelor's degrees ask for IELTS 5.0, and several multimedia, design and finance-related bachelor's degrees ask for IELTS 5.5 to 6.0. Applicants who do not meet the requirement receive a conditional offer and take MMU's own English Proficiency Programme (EPP) before starting the main programme.
