Admission at a glance

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is a government-established international university based at Gombak, Selangor, founded with the backing of several Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member states and teaching most of its programmes in English. International undergraduate applicants need a minimum of three principal passes at GCE A-Level or an equivalent qualification recognised by IIUM's Senate; Engineering and Medicine may set an entrance exam or interview on top of this. The general English requirement is IELTS 6.0, with the floor rising to IELTS 7.0 for the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws and for the Bachelor of English Language and Literature, and easing to IELTS 5.0 for programmes taught in Arabic; applicants without a test score can sit IIUM's own English Placement Test instead. IIUM's official fee schedule bills tuition as one whole-programme figure covering the standard four-year, eight-semester bachelor's degree (ten semesters for medicine and dentistry) rather than a clean annual rate, plus a one-off, non-refundable RM 1,050 Entrance Fee charged to every new international student alongside tuition. Programme cost varies enormously by Kulliyyah (faculty): Economics and Management Sciences and Human Sciences both cost RM 60,000 for the whole programme, Engineering costs RM 124,000, Pharmacy costs RM 200,000, and Medicine and Dentistry both cost RM 500,000, reflecting the very different length and resourcing of clinical training.
