International Islamic University Malaysia Admission Requirements 2027 for International Students

International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) is a government-established international university at Gombak, Selangor, jointly founded with support from OIC member states and teaching most programmes in English. It sets a general IELTS 6.0 floor for international undergraduates and bills tuition as a whole-programme figure, from RM 60,000 for economics, management and human sciences degrees up to RM 500,000 for medicine and dentistry.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree

A minimum of three principal passes at GCE A-Level or an equivalent qualification recognised by the IIUM Senate. Engineering and Medicine may require an entrance examination or interview in addition. English is the medium of instruction for most programmes.

English language

IELTS 6.0 for the general run of English-medium programmes. IELTS 7.0 for the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) and for Bachelor of English Language and Literature. IELTS 5.0 for programmes taught in Arabic. IELTS 6.0 for bilingual (English/Arabic) programmes. Applicants without an IELTS or TOEFL score can sit IIUM's own English Placement Test (EPT) as part of the application.

How to apply

Check the entry requirement for the intended Kulliyyah (faculty) and programme.
Apply online through IIUM's e-Admission Centre (eadmission.iium.edu.my).
Submit certificates, transcripts and an English test result, or arrange to sit IIUM's English Placement Test.
Receive the outcome from IIUM's Academic Management and Admission Division (AMAD) or the Promotion and Student Recruitment Office for undergraduate applicants.
Accept the offer and pay the one-off RM 1,050 Entrance Fee together with the first semester's charges.
IIUM applies to EMGS for the Visa Approval Letter (eVAL); the student then completes the Single Entry Visa (if required), travel, arrival medical screening and Student Pass endorsement steps set by EMGS and Immigration.

English test waiver

Programmes in the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws and Bachelor of English Language and Literature require a higher IELTS 7.0. Programmes taught in Arabic accept IELTS 5.0. An applicant who cannot sit IELTS or TOEFL can instead take IIUM's own English Placement Test (EPT).
