Lulea University of Technology Admission Requirements 2027

Lulea University of Technology is a public technical university in northern Sweden, teaching engineering, natural sciences and a smaller range of other subjects. It applies through the shared national admissions system, though its own site could not be reached directly during this research run to confirm its tuition figures.

Requirements

Bachelor

A completed upper secondary education equivalent to Swedish gymnasium, with subject specific prerequisites set by each programme. English proficiency equivalent to English 6.

Master

A bachelor's degree, normally at least 180 ECTS credits, in engineering, science or a related field, with prerequisites set by each programme. English proficiency equivalent to English 6, generally IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, or TOEFL iBT total 90; these figures are the national standard rather than confirmed directly on ltu.se, which could not be reached during this research run.

Documents

Passport copy, degree certificates and transcripts, and, for applicants who are not EU/EEA/Swiss citizens, proof of application fee payment, uploaded to universityadmissions.se. The exact document list ltu.se itself asks for could not be confirmed during this run because the site could not be reached.

How to apply

Check the entry requirements for the chosen programme on Lulea University of Technology's own programme pages.
Apply through the national portal at universityadmissions.se before the 15 January 2027 deadline for autumn entry.
Pay the SEK 900 national application fee, if required, and upload supporting documents by 1 February 2027.
Check the selection results on the portal, published 1 April 2027 for master's programmes.
Accept the offer on the portal and, if a fee paying student, pay tuition to the university, billed through Ladok, before the semester starts.
Apply for a Swedish residence permit for studies through Migrationsverket once tuition is paid or a scholarship is confirmed.

English test waiver

Lulea follows the national English 6 standard: applicants who completed upper secondary or prior higher education taught in English, including the Swedish gymnasium course English 6, are generally exempt from an English test, assessed by universityadmissions.se. This figure is recorded from the national standard rather than ltu.se directly, since ltu.se refused every direct connection attempted during this research run.
