BUT applications are submitted through its E-application system, and the general deadline is 31 March, though individual programmes and faculties can set other dates such as 30 April, so the programme page is the one to check. After applying and paying the fee, an applicant waits for the application period to close and then hears from the faculty about the entrance procedure. Depending on the programme, that is an entrance exam plus an English exam, or the submission of diplomas and language certificates in their place. After passing and receiving the letter of acceptance, a student can apply for a place in BUT's dormitories, and the letter of acceptance together with confirmed accommodation is what the Czech embassy needs for a long-term study visa, so the order matters. Foreign applicants may also need a certificate recognising their previous education, except those educated in Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, or with secondary or master's study completed in Slovenia, whose certificates count automatically. The fee choice is simple and set by language alone: Czech-taught programmes are free for everyone, English-taught ones are charged.
