TOEFL Requirement for Hong Kong Universities: Minimum Score

Typical minimum: 79 to 93 (iBT) depending on the university.

HKU requires a TOEFL iBT score of 93, the highest of the eight. CUHK and HKUST both require 80 (HKUST rescaled to an overall 4.5 for tests from 21 January 2026). PolyU also requires 80. CityU, HKBU and EdUHK require 79, the floor across the sector. Lingnan lists TOEFL as an accepted test but its exact minimum could not be confirmed from an official page in this research pass.
