Admission at a glance

Wits takes undergraduate applications for 2027 through its online self-service portal with a R100 application fee. All programmes in the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and BA Film and TV closed on 30 June 2026, and all other undergraduate programmes and residence applications close on 30 September 2026. Applicants may choose up to three programmes. Postgraduate applications cost R200 and close on dates set by each programme, shown in the course finder. There is no separate deadline for international applicants. International students must pay 75% of the annual tuition on or before registration, with the balance due by 30 June. English is required at IELTS 6.5, or TOEFL internet-based 100 in exceptional cases, unless the applicant passed English at South African higher grade or GCSE, GCE or IGCSE ordinary level. Undergraduate international students are not eligible for university bursaries or financial aid, but postgraduates may qualify for merit awards. Undergraduates with foreign school qualifications also need a Matriculation Board exemption.
