Stellenbosch University opens undergraduate and student housing applications on 1 April and closes them on 31 July, and it does not consider late applications; changes to programme choices close on 31 August. The university warns that large numbers of prospective students apply for its programmes. Postgraduate programmes set their own closing dates. The application fee for international applicants is R400 and is not refundable. International degree-seeking students pay a compulsory initial amount before registration, made up of a payment towards tuition and, for students from outside SADC, the full International Tuition Fee. For a bachelor's or honours student from outside Africa in 2026 that is R45,000 plus R76,520, a total of R121,520; for a student from Africa beyond SADC it is R83,260, and for a SADC student R45,000. The university notes that this amount is not the full cost, and final payment is due by 31 May. Postgraduate applicants need IELTS Academic 6.5 with 6.0 in each component or TOEFL iBT 86. Undergraduates with foreign school qualifications also need a Matriculation Board exemption, and minimum admission requirements are published for each international school-leaving qualification.
