Stellenbosch University Tuition Fees 2028

Stellenbosch University, which began in 1918 in the town of Stellenbosch near Cape Town, describes a community of more than 32,000 students, including over 4,000 international students from 100 countries. International students pay tuition set per module plus an International Tuition Fee of R76,520 a year for bachelor's study if they come from outside Africa, and R38,260 from Africa beyond SADC, in 2026. Undergraduate applications close on 31 July.

Stellenbosch University sets tuition per degree or module by faculty, and international students obtain a fee quotation online. On top of tuition, international students pay an International Registration Fee each year according to citizenship, and students from outside SADC pay an International Tuition Fee in full before registration. For 2026, bachelor's, certificate, diploma and honours students pay an International Tuition Fee of ZAR 38,260 if they come from Africa beyond SADC and ZAR 76,520 if they come from outside Africa. Master's students from outside Africa pay an International Tuition Fee of ZAR 38,260, and doctoral students and SADC students pay none. The compulsory initial payment before registration for a bachelor's student from outside Africa is R45,000 towards tuition plus the R76,520 fee, R121,520 in total, which the university notes is not the full cost; final payment is due by 31 May 2026 for first-semester enrolments. Students living in residence also make a compulsory initial payment for residence fees and a meal quota of R15,000. The application fee is R400.
