Admission at a glance

UCT opened applications for the 2027 academic year on 1 April 2026. Undergraduate applications closed on 31 July 2026, and UCT does not consider late application requests. Postgraduate applications close on 30 September 2026, which is also the deadline for proof of English and for supporting documents from all international applicants. International applicants need an offer of admission by 15 November 2026 to leave enough time for a study visa, and final transcripts are due by 31 December 2026. The application fee is R100 for South African and SADC applicants and R300 for applicants from outside the SADC region, and USD 100 for Graduate School of Business applicants from outside Africa. First payments for 2027 are due before registration or by 29 January 2027, whichever is earlier: R127,400 for most full-time non-SADC international students, R84,800 for master's students each year of registration, and R41,800 for SADC students. English is required at IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each part, TOEFL iBT 88 or PTE 67, unless the applicant passed English at school-leaving level in an English-medium institution. Undergraduates with foreign school qualifications also need a Matriculation Board exemption.
