University of Rijeka Admission 2027 for International Students

Admission at a glance

The University of Rijeka Faculty of Medicine admits international applicants to its University Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study Programme of Medicine, taught in English, a six-year, 360-ECTS programme leading to the title Doctor of Medicine (dr. med. / M.D.). Any applicant who has completed at least four years of secondary school, studied Biology, Chemistry and Physics or related subjects for at least two years during that schooling, and passed the final graduation exam is eligible to apply. Selection rests on a written entrance exam in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, held on-site in Rijeka and simultaneously abroad in a hybrid format across three terms a year, worth up to 120 points, combined with up to 30 points from secondary-school grades, for a maximum of 150 points. Some applicants can be exempted, including those who passed the MCAT with at least 125 per section, hold a BA or BSc in natural sciences, or scored above 70 percent on the MediTest-EU. Applicants who are not native English speakers, and who did not graduate from an English-medium secondary school or college, must submit an English-language proficiency score, either TOEFL or IELTS, and Cambridge, Oxford or B2-level school-issued English certificates are also accepted; native speakers and those schooled in English are exempt from this requirement. Required documents include a completed application form, certified secondary-school and higher-education certificates, an English CV, four photographs, a medical certificate, identity documents, a birth certificate, a certified financial statement, and the English proficiency certificate, all submitted as notary-certified copies in PDF form through the Faculty's web application. The application fee is EUR 200, non-refundable if an application is withdrawn, incomplete or declined. As of the verification date, the Faculty had published a complete three-round admission cycle for the 2026/2027 academic year, but no call for applications for the 2027/2028 academic year had yet appeared on its own website.

Requirements

Bachelor

This is an integrated undergraduate and graduate programme, so there is no separate bachelor's-only admission. Applicants are eligible if they have:

• completed at least four years of secondary school (or attained an equivalent qualification abroad)
• taken Biology, Chemistry and Physics, or related subjects, for at least two years during secondary school
• passed the final secondary-school graduation exam

Admission is decided by a written entrance exam in Biology, Chemistry and Physics (up to 120 points) plus secondary-school grades (up to 30 points), for a maximum of 150 points. Applicants who passed the MCAT (minimum 125 per section), hold a BA/BSc in natural sciences with strong Biology, Physics and Chemistry credits, or scored above 70 percent on MediTest-EU may be exempted from the entrance exam. Applicants who obtained their high school education abroad must have their diploma recognised in Croatia to be fully enrolled.

Master
