University of Galway Admission 2027: Deadlines, Requirements, Fees for International Students

University of Galway, formerly the National University of Ireland Galway, is a public university on Ireland's west coast with a strong reputation in medicine, science and the humanities. Non-EU applicants for full undergraduate degrees apply directly online, separately from the CAO system that Irish and EU school leavers use, and pay an application fee of EUR 35 covering up to two programme choices. The university reopens its non-EU undergraduate application portal on 1 October for entry the following September, and warns that individual courses can close to new applications on short notice once places are filled, so early application matters; decisions are normally issued within four to six weeks of a complete application. Non-EU undergraduate tuition for 2026/27 ranges from about EUR 15,640 a year for International Hotel Management, taught through the university's Shannon College, to EUR 55,000 for the undergraduate Medicine programme, with most arts, business and science degrees priced in between. Applicants whose first language is not English must normally reach IELTS 6.5 overall with no section below 6.0, or an equivalent score in TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic, within two years of the course start date.

Requirements

Bachelor

A secondary school qualification recognised as equivalent to the Leaving Certificate, meeting the points and subject requirements of the chosen course.

Master

A relevant undergraduate honours degree, normally second class honours grade 1 or equivalent; some taught masters set higher requirements or ask for relevant experience.
