Requirements
Bachelor
A secondary school qualification recognised as equivalent to the Leaving Certificate, meeting the points and subject requirements of the chosen course.
Master
A relevant undergraduate honours degree, normally second class honours grade 1 or equivalent; some taught masters set higher requirements or ask for relevant experience.
Documents
Academic transcripts and certificates, evidence of English language proficiency, passport copy, and a personal statement or references for courses that ask for them. A EUR 35 application fee applies, covering up to two programme choices.
How to apply
- Check entry requirements for your chosen course.
- Apply online through the University of Galway non-EU application system from 1 October, paying the EUR 35 fee.
- Submit transcripts, English test results and supporting documents; expect a decision within four to six weeks.
- Accept your offer and pay the required deposit.
- Apply for your Irish study visa early, since processing can take six to twelve weeks.
English test waiver
General minimum is IELTS 6.5 overall with no section below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88, or PTE Academic 61 with no band below 50; some courses, including certain science and technology masters, set higher requirements. Tests must be taken within two years of the course start date.
