Admission at a glance
The Technological University of the Shannon, formed in 2021 from the merger of Limerick Institute of Technology and Athlone Institute of Technology, serves the midlands and midwest of Ireland from campuses in Limerick, Athlone, Thurles and Clonmel. Non-EU undergraduate tuition is a flat rate of EUR 14,500 a year, and direct applicants pay a non-refundable EUR 50 processing fee. TUS Global's application portal for a new academic year has typically closed to new non-EU applications on 1 June and reopened on 1 October for the following year's entry; TUS has previously suspended new applications from a small number of countries, including Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Zimbabwe, when visa processing delays were expected, so applicants from those countries should check current status directly. Scholarships of up to EUR 4,000 are awarded at the point of application. Applicants whose first language is not English must generally reach IELTS 6.0 for most undergraduate courses, though nursing programmes ask for IELTS 7.0 and taught postgraduate courses generally ask for IELTS 6.5; TOEFL, PTE Academic and Duolingo scores are accepted as equivalents.
