Admission at a glance
Dhaka University runs its own undergraduate admission process rather than joining the shared GST cluster test used by many other public universities. Applicants apply online through the university's admission portal after passing HSC or an equivalent qualification, choosing one of several faculties known as units. A candidate sits a written admission test for the unit they apply to, and a merit list combining the test score with SSC and HSC results decides who is offered a seat. The university's own admission portal, admission.eis.du.ac.bd, is where the current session's circular, exact application dates, unit-wise seat numbers and fee amounts are published each cycle, normally some months after that year's HSC results.
A fetch of du.ac.bd from a server inside Bangladesh on 2026-09-07 loaded the homepage in full, unlike the DNS failure in the earlier research pass. It confirms the university opened on 1 July 1921 and now has 13 faculties, 83 departments, 12 institutes, more than 54 research centres and about 37,018 regular students. The homepage's own notices that week concerned graduate and professional master's programmes (development studies, meteorology, disaster science), not a 2026-27 bachelor's circular. admission.eis.du.ac.bd itself returned only the message "the server is down for regular maintenance", and du.ac.bd/page/admission returned a 404, so the bachelor's application window, test dates and fee amount for 2026-27 still could not be confirmed from an official page.
