English test waiver

There is no English requirement for Aveiro's first-cycle degrees because they are taught in Portuguese; the special call says some degrees may exceptionally be taught in English. What is required is Portuguese at CEFR B1, proved by a certificate from a public school exam in Portugal, a Camões Institute-accredited centre abroad, or a recognised Portuguese-as-a-foreign-language assessment centre, or another certificate the jury accepts as equivalent. That B1 bar is lower than the B2 the University of Coimbra requires. An applicant without B1 may still apply by signing a sworn statement to take an intensive Portuguese course before the degree, which may cost extra if taken at Aveiro, and enrolment is only confirmed once B1 is reached. Applicants who completed secondary school in Portuguese are exempt.
