Admission at a glance

Technische Universitat Berlin (TU Berlin) is a public technical university with a strong focus on engineering, computer science and the natural sciences. As with Humboldt and Freie Universitat, Berlin's state policy means TU Berlin charges no tuition fee to international students in regular degree programmes, with continuing-education Master's programmes as the only exception. All students pay a semester contribution, EUR 379.06 for the 2026/27 winter semester, made up mostly of an administration fee, a Studierendenwerk contribution and a Semesterticket for public transport.

TU Berlin publishes its application deadlines well in advance and follows a consistent annual pattern rather than changing dates each year: for the winter semester, restricted-admission programmes taught in English close on 15 May and those taught in German close on 15 June, while open-admission programmes run from 1 June to 31 August. For the summer semester, restricted-admission programmes close on 15 January and open-admission programmes on 28 February. International applicants with a foreign first degree must also obtain a preliminary review document (VPD) from uni-assist, which TU Berlin says can take several weeks to process.
