Medical University of Sofia Admission Requirements 2027

The Medical University of Sofia, whose founding law dates from 1917, teaches Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy in English. Non-EU students pay EUR 9,950 a year for Medicine, EUR 10,000 for Dental Medicine and EUR 8,000 for Pharmacy in 2026-27, and the non-EU application deadline for this year was extended to 25 September 2026, with the online entrance exam on 2 October.

English test waiver

The Medical University of Sofia tests English itself rather than asking for an IELTS or TOEFL score. Applicants to Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy in English sit a single entrance exam in English, Biology and Chemistry, held remotely, and the score is the sum of three times the biology mark, three times the chemistry mark and the English mark, out of a maximum of 42. If any one component is failed, the whole exam is failed. Candidates are ranked on the combined exam score and their high school biology and chemistry grades. The university publishes no minimum IELTS or TOEFL score and no English waiver.
