Cost of Studying in Bulgaria (2027) for International Students

Bulgaria's medical universities teach Medicine, Dental Medicine and Pharmacy in English to students from outside the EU for EUR 6,200 to EUR 10,000 a year in 2026-27, admitting them through online entrance exams in biology, chemistry and English. A non-EU student needs a long-stay D visa, costing EUR 100, and a Ministry of Education admission certificate, then a residence permit; students may work 20 hours a week in term and stay nine months after graduating to look for work.

Tuition, 2026-27, English programmes. Medical University of Sofia: Medicine EUR 9,950, Dental Medicine EUR 10,000, Pharmacy EUR 8,000, Nursing EUR 5,000 a year. Medical University of Plovdiv, first year: Medicine EUR 10,000, Dental Medicine EUR 10,000, Pharmacy EUR 6,200, Nursing EUR 4,500.

Exam fees. Sofia EUR 55 for documents and EUR 210 for the exam; Plovdiv EUR 30 for processing and EUR 270 for the tests per exam date.

Visa. Long-stay D visa EUR 100, not refunded on refusal.

Money you must show. At least the national minimum monthly wage, minimum scholarship or minimum pension for the period of stay.
