Admission at a glance

International applicants who are not EU/EEA nationals apply to one of STU's seven faculties (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Chemical and Food Technology, Architecture and Design, Materials Science and Technology, Informatics and Information Technologies) or the Institute of Management, depending on which English-taught bachelor's or master's programme they want. English-taught options exist at bachelor's level mainly in Architecture and Urbanism, in the Management/Economy field, and in Production Technologies, and more broadly at master's level across most of the faculties above. Applications are submitted electronically through STU's e-application system before the faculty-specific deadline; for the 2027/2028 intake, most full-time English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes must be applied for by 31 March 2027, though a small number of faculties set separate exam and decision dates and the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology is not opening its English-taught bachelor's programme for this intake. Applicants must pay a non-refundable fee for the material arrangement of the admission procedure, generally 40 EUR for a full-time programme taught in a foreign language (higher at some faculties). All applicants, including foreign nationals applying in English, must meet the university's general condition of at least a B1 level of the language of instruction, shown either through the admission examination, a language certificate, or proof of prior study conducted in that language. Depending on the programme, admission may also involve an entrance examination or be based on a review of the applicant's prior academic record; faculties publish their own detailed conditions, including required documents such as secondary-school or bachelor's certificates with any needed recognition or translation.

Requirements

Bachelor

• Full completion of secondary education or secondary vocational education (or the foreign equivalent, subject to recognition).
• At least a B1 level of the language of instruction (English for English-taught programmes), demonstrated via the admission exam, a language certificate, or proof of prior study in that language.
• Faculty-specific conditions: some faculties (for example Architecture and Design) hold a separate entrance examination and selection round; others admit mainly on secondary-school results. The English-taught bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology is not open for the 2027/2028 intake.
• Payment of the non-refundable admission-procedure fee.

Master

• Graduation from a first-level (bachelor's) study programme, or its recognised foreign equivalent.
• At least a B1 level of the language of instruction for the chosen programme.
• Faculty-specific conditions and, at some faculties, an entrance examination.
• Payment of the non-refundable admission-procedure fee.
