Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava Admission Requirements 2027

The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) is a Slovak public university established in 1937, with 11,041 students across seven faculties and one university institute. It teaches a range of bachelor's and master's programmes in English, mainly in engineering, informatics, architecture and management, alongside its Slovak-language programmes, and states that English-taught study costs up to 4,000 EUR a year.

Requirements

Bachelor

Full completion of secondary education or secondary vocational education (or the foreign equivalent, subject to recognition).
At least a B1 level of the language of instruction (English for English-taught programmes), demonstrated via the admission exam, a language certificate, or proof of prior study in that language.
Faculty-specific conditions: some faculties (for example Architecture and Design) hold a separate entrance examination and selection round; others admit mainly on secondary-school results. The English-taught bachelor's programme at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology is not open for the 2027/2028 intake.
Payment of the non-refundable admission-procedure fee.

Master

Graduation from a first-level (bachelor's) study programme, or its recognised foreign equivalent.
At least a B1 level of the language of instruction for the chosen programme.
Faculty-specific conditions and, at some faculties, an entrance examination.
Payment of the non-refundable admission-procedure fee.

Documents

Application submitted through STU's electronic application system; certified copies of secondary-school leaving certificate (for bachelor's applicants) or bachelor's diploma and transcript (for master's applicants), with recognition/nostrification and translation where the faculty requires it; proof of language proficiency at B1 level or higher, if not demonstrated through the entrance exam; proof of payment of the admission-procedure fee; other faculty-specific attachments as listed in each faculty's own admission conditions.

How to apply

Choose the faculty and English-taught bachelor's or master's programme.
Submit the electronic application (e-application) through STU's application system before the faculty's stated deadline.
Pay the non-refundable admission-procedure fee and attach proof of payment (not required separately if paid through the electronic system).
Submit or upload the required certificates (secondary-school or bachelor's certificate, as applicable) and any recognition/translation documents the faculty asks for.
Demonstrate at least a B1 level of English, either through the entrance examination, a language certificate, or proof of prior study in English.
Sit the faculty's entrance examination where one is required, on the date the faculty publishes.
Receive the admission committee's decision on the date the faculty's admission schedule states.

English test waiver

STU does not publish a specific IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo score on its own pages. Its Rules and Conditions for Admission to Study Programs (Article on additional admission conditions) state a general rule that applies to every faculty: applicants must have "at least a B1 level knowledge of the language in which the chosen study programme is pursued," proven either in the admission examination, by submitting a certificate at the required level, or by submitting proof of previous studies conducted in that language. The same document confirms this applies to foreign nationals applying in English: "For foreign nationals applying for study programs in the Slovak or English languages shall these rules apply accordingly."
