Goethe University Frankfurt is one of Germany's largest public universities, with a strong international reputation in economics, law, social sciences and the natural sciences, reflecting its location in Germany's financial centre. It charges no tuition fee to international students; all students instead pay a semester contribution for registration with the university's student services, which recent faculty pages put at approximately EUR 350 a term and which covers unlimited public transport within Frankfurt and the state of Hesse. Admission is organised by faculty and department rather than through one central university-wide deadline: the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, for example, opens applications for its Master in Money, Macro and Finance on 2 January each year with staged deadlines running through the spring, while other master's programmes such as International Management set a higher English requirement and their own separate timetable. Bachelor's degrees at Goethe University are taught almost entirely in German, so international applicants need a German certificate, usually at DSH-2 or TestDaF level 4, alongside a recognised higher education entrance qualification; applicants from certain countries, including India, must also submit an APS certificate before applying. Non-EU applicants generally apply through uni-assist for bachelor's programmes, while many master's programmes are handled directly by the department.

Bachelor's

Bachelor's degrees at Goethe University are taught almost entirely in German, so applicants need a German certificate, usually at DSH-2 or TestDaF level 4, alongside a higher education entrance qualification recognised as equivalent to the Abitur. Applicants from some countries, including India, also need an APS certificate.

Master's

Applicants need a relevant bachelor's degree, normally with at least 80 percent of the required credits completed at the time of application for programmes with staged deadlines. English-taught master's programmes set their own English requirement, commonly in the IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 95 range, though some ask less and some more.
