Documents
Passport copy; CV/resume; English language proficiency document; secondary school certificate with supplement (bachelor's) or bachelor's diploma with diploma supplement (master's); medical certificate with negative Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV results; 3x4 cm photograph. Any diploma, certificate or supplement issued outside Azerbaijan must carry an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country, and must be accompanied by a notarised Azerbaijani translation if not already in Azerbaijani. Doctoral applicants additionally need both bachelor's and master's diplomas with supplements and a nostrification (recognition) certificate for those diplomas.
How to apply
- Create an account and apply online through portal.edu.az, selecting a specialty and language of instruction.
- Upload the required documents (passport, CV, English language proficiency document, academic certificate/diploma with supplement, medical certificate, photo), apostilled and translated where required.
- UNEC's International Cooperation Department reviews the application for eligibility.
- If eligible, UNEC issues an official invitation letter to the applicant.
- The applicant travels to Azerbaijan on an educational visa and submits original documents to the International Cooperation Department.
- An enrolment contract is signed and the fee-paying international student is enrolled.
English test waiver
UNEC does not publish a numeric IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/Duolingo minimum score as an admission requirement for international students. Instead, its official admission-rules page for international students lists a required document to upload during the online application: "English language proficiency document" (alongside passport copy, CV, diploma with supplement, medical certificate and photo). No specific test or score is named, and the document must be apostilled if issued abroad. Instruction at UNEC is offered in four languages (Azerbaijani, English, Russian, Turkish); applicants choose their language of instruction when applying, and English-medium specialties are available at both bachelor's and master's level.
