Scholarships to Study in Sweden (2027) for International Students

Sweden runs one national admissions portal for almost every bachelor's and master's program, with a two week window either side of 15 January that international applicants use to secure a place, pay an application fee and, if required, tuition. Tuition and living costs vary a great deal by university, program and city, and a residence permit through Migrationsverket is required for non-EU/EEA students before arrival.

The Swedish Institute funds scholarships for students from specific countries, covering tuition, a living allowance and travel for a limited number of master's students each year; applicants apply after they have already been admitted to a program. Most Swedish universities also run their own scholarships or automatic tuition reductions for admitted fee paying students, generally decided at the same time as admission based on academic merit, with the details published on each university's own scholarships page.
