Study in Qatar: Admission, Cost, Visa and Scholarships (2027)

Qatar University in Doha admits international students to undergraduate and graduate programmes. Qatari and tuition-exempt students pay no undergraduate tuition; everyone else pays by the credit hour.

For undergraduates admitted from Fall 2026, Qatar University charges QAR 1,200 per credit hour in Arts, Education, Law and Sharia and Islamic Studies; QAR 1,400 in Business and Economics, Sciences, Health Sciences, Nursing, Sport Sciences and the Foundation Program; QAR 1,600 in Engineering and Pharmacy; and QAR 1,700 in the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Program. Medicine and Dental Medicine are charged by the year, rising from QAR 45,400 in the first year to QAR 149,000 in the fifth and sixth. Graduate study costs QAR 2,200 per credit hour for master's and doctoral programmes and QAR 2,600 for the MBA.

The calendar is early and short for applicants from abroad. For Fall 2026, international applicants could apply online for admission and a student visa from 1 March to 25 March 2026, with visa documents due the next day. Graduate applications for Fall 2026 ran from 1 December 2025 to 25 February 2026, and the Fall 2027 dates are to be announced. Undergraduate applicants pay QAR 200 and graduate applicants QAR 350, both non-refundable.

English requirements depend on the college. To be exempt from the Foundation Program an undergraduate needs TOEFL iBT 61 or IELTS Academic 5.5, and non-Qatari applicants to Health Sciences, Nursing and Pharmacy must meet that level to apply; Medicine and Dental Medicine need IELTS 6 or TOEFL iBT 68. Graduate applicants from outside Qatar are asked to submit IELTS rather than TOEFL, and most graduate programmes also accept a previous degree taught in English as proof. International students who enter the Foundation Program because they have not yet met the English or mathematics level are required to complete it within two semesters, so a weaker English score costs time as well as money.

Scholarships are aimed at undergraduates. Qatar University's International Students Scholarship, for applicants with a school average of at least 95%, covers tuition and textbooks and adds housing, an annual air ticket and a monthly allowance, while its Talent Scholarship pays a monthly allowance to non-Qatari students with at least 80%. The university states that there are currently no scholarships for graduate applicants.

International students without a Qatar residence permit apply for a student visa under Qatar University's sponsorship. Through the Ministry of Interior, expatriate students may request an educational residence visa with a letter from an accredited educational authority, a good conduct certificate and proof of passing a medical examination abroad, and the visa is issued free of charge.
