Admission at a glance

Utrecht University is one of the largest research universities in the Netherlands, teaching bachelor's and master's programmes across the humanities, natural and life sciences, medicine, law, economics, and social and behavioural sciences. International bachelor's applicants register through Studielink and then complete Utrecht's own application, uploading a diploma, transcript and English test result, and pay a EUR 100 application fee.

Utrecht sets an EMI-ready English standard for bachelor's admission, equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with at least 5.5 in writing and speaking, or TOEFL iBT 83 overall under the scoring system introduced for tests taken from 21 January 2026. Applicants who completed secondary education taught fully in English, or who hold a strong result on an accepted Cambridge exam, may be exempt.

Non-EEA institutional tuition is set per programme rather than as one university-wide rate, and runs from about EUR 12,068 to EUR 28,416 a year depending on faculty; the statutory rate for eligible EEA students is EUR 2,694. The latest date for a non-EU applicant's complete application to be received and processed is 1 April. Master's programmes set their own deadlines individually rather than following one Utrecht-wide date, so applicants should always check the specific programme page.
