The University of Tokyo Scholarships 2027

The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) is Japan's oldest and most internationally known national university. Its Programs in English at Komaba (PEAK) undergraduate track closed after its September 2026 intake, and from September 2027 the new UTokyo College of Design opens as the university's first fully English-taught undergraduate faculty in about 70 years, alongside long-running English-taught master's and doctoral programmes across many graduate schools.

UTokyo participates in the Japanese government's MEXT scholarship, covering tuition, a monthly stipend and travel for a competitive number of students, primarily applied for through a Japanese embassy or consulate before arrival. The university and individual departments also run their own tuition exemptions and stipends for students already admitted, alongside JASSO's exchange scholarships for students on formal partnership agreements.
