Admission at a glance

International applicants to Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) apply through the university's own online system, Apply@UTB, at https://apply.utb.edu.bn. Undergraduate applicants based outside Brunei apply directly through Apply@UTB, while applicants based in Brunei Darussalam must first apply through the national HECAS portal before submitting a hard copy application to UTB. Undergraduate places are offered across the School of Business, School of Computing and Informatics, School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics, School of Design and the Faculty of Engineering.

Postgraduate applicants, including Master's by Coursework, Master's by Research, PhD and Doctor of Business Administration candidates, also apply through Apply@UTB. Master's by Coursework is offered for August enrolment only, while Master's by Research, PhD and DBA programmes are offered for both January and August enrolment, each with its own published closing date.

All applicants must meet the general entry requirements published in the UTB Prospectus, which include a minimum age, an English language requirement met through GCE O Level English, IGCSE English, IELTS or TOEFL, and programme-specific academic qualifications. International tuition fees are charged per programme and are higher than the fees charged to Brunei citizens and permanent residents. Requirements

Bachelor

Applicants for undergraduate degree programmes must be at least 21 years of age on the date of admission to the programme, hold at least a Credit Six (C6) in English Language at GCE O Level (or a grade C in IGCSE English as a Second Language, or IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL 550), hold a minimum of Credit Six (C6) at GCE O Level Mathematics or equivalent unless exempted by the programme, and have passed at least one GCE A Level or an equivalent qualification. Individual schools and programmes set further subject-specific requirements.

Master

Entry requirements vary by programme and by route (Coursework, Research, PhD or DBA). Programmes generally require a relevant bachelor's or master's degree from a recognised institution, and the same English language requirement as undergraduate entry (GCE O Level English, IGCSE English, IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550), to be met within two years of the programme start date unless the applicant's prior education was in English.
