English test waiver
Szeged's Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical School publishes no IELTS or TOEFL minimum. It tests English inside its own entrance examination instead, and does so more explicitly than most. The written paper has three sections of twenty multiple choice questions each, in Biology, in Chemistry and in English Language, and the English section covers both general and medical English. The oral part is a twenty minute interview with a university professor over Zoom, held in English: after a general conversation the candidate answers two questions in Biology and two in Chemistry, in English. An applicant to the Nurse or Physiotherapist programme only, and not in parallel to General Medicine, Dental Medicine or Pharmacy, sits a shorter assessment covering English proficiency and a motivational conversation rather than the full science paper. Exemption from the entrance examination altogether is possible on the strength of a certified International Baccalaureate diploma, GCE A2 level certificates, or a bachelor's degree with transcripts; predicted grades are only considered in limited circumstances. Every document submitted has to be an attested copy in English or carry an authorised English translation.
