UiS reduced its fees from the 2026/2027 academic year, after a legal amendment let Norwegian universities set lower rates, and now charges either NOK 60,000 or NOK 85,000 per 60 ECTS depending on the programme. At NOK 60,000: the master's programmes in Business and Administration, Economic Transformation and Innovation, English and Literacy Studies, Public Environmental Humanities, Service Leadership in International Business and Sustainability Studies, and the Norwegian language and culture programme. At NOK 85,000: the engineering, science and performing arts programmes, including Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Asset Management, Marine and Offshore Technology, Petroleum Engineering, Risk Analysis, Structural and Mechanical Engineering, Biological Chemistry, Energy, Reservoir and Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Physics, City and Regional Planning, Prehospital Critical Care, Performing Arts, the Dance bachelor's and the one-year Music Production and Recording programme. Fees are adjusted each year in line with inflation and the national budget, and must be paid in full before each academic year; instalments are not possible. Citizens of Norway, the EU, the EEA and Switzerland pay no tuition, and everyone pays the separate semester fee.
