Admission at a glance

University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM) is the Malaysian branch campus of the UK's University of Nottingham, based at Semenyih in Selangor, and teaches degrees validated to the same academic standard as the UK campus. Applications for all levels go through UNM's own NottinghamHub portal, with a non-refundable RM 424 application fee (inclusive of Malaysia's 6 percent Service Tax) charged for each programme applied to; applicants who apply to more than one programme pay the fee again for each one. Entry requirements and English test minimums are both set by school rather than as one university-wide figure: some engineering programmes accept IELTS 5.5 with no element below 5.0, others ask for IELTS 6.0, and its MBA sets the highest published bar of IELTS 7.0. Applicants who narrowly miss the requirement can take a pre-sessional English course through UNM's Centre for English Language Education before starting their main programme. UNM publishes tuition per year by school rather than a whole-programme figure: the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences runs from about RM 52,000 to RM 57,000 a year, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering runs from about RM 57,000 to RM 75,000 a year, with Pharmacy at the top of that range. International applicants must also pay a RM 2,000 course deposit once an offer is accepted, and the university reviews complete applications within two working weeks.
