University of Minho Admission Requirements 2027

The University of Minho, with campuses in Braga and Guimarães in northern Portugal, admits non-EU students to its bachelor's degrees through a special call in three phases. For 2026/27 international tuition is EUR 2,250 a year in languages and humanities, EUR 4,500 in law, social sciences and economics, and EUR 6,500 in sciences, engineering and the arts, with Medicine at EUR 18,000. Teaching is mostly in Portuguese at B2.

English test waiver

Minho requires independent command of the language the degree is taught in, which for almost all first-cycle degrees is Portuguese and for a few is English: CEFR B2, shown by a certificate or by a written and/or oral exam. Applicants whose degree came from a Portuguese-speaking country and who apply to a Portuguese-taught course are exempt from the Portuguese test. An applicant at B1 may apply by formally committing to an annual language course, and must show B2 by the end of it or cannot renew enrolment. Exceptionally, an applicant below B1 may apply by committing to an intensive course, reaching B1 before classes start and B2 by the end of the year; if B1 is not reached, the placement is lost. The Integrated Master's in Medicine sets its own bar: Portuguese B1 or English B2, with an annual course route from A2 Portuguese or B1 English. No IELTS or TOEFL score is named.
