The student contribution has three parts: EUR 16 stamp duty, a regional tax of at least EUR 120, and a university fee calculated from the ISEE-U. International students can obtain the ISEE-U equivalent free of charge from a CAF tax assistance centre once in Italy. The university fee itself ranges from EUR 0, for the lowest ISEE-U band in the first contribution group, up to a published maximum of about EUR 3,300 for an ISEE-U over EUR 100,000 or where no ISEE-U is submitted, giving a combined range of roughly EUR 136 to EUR 3,436 a year depending on income, degree class and contribution group.
