English test waiver
There is no English requirement because these degrees are not taught in English. Coimbra's bachelor's and integrated master's programmes are taught in Portuguese, and enrolment in any of them requires Portuguese at CEFR B2. Two routes exist for applicants below that. An applicant with B1 may apply provided they enrol in the university's Annual Portuguese Language Course. Exceptionally, an applicant below B1 may apply provided they first complete the Foundation Year Programme in Portuguese Language, which costs EUR 7,000; if placed, they pre-register and pay the registration fee, and registration in the degree is confirmed only once B1 is reached, otherwise the place is deferred a year while they complete an annual language course. The pre-registration payment is non-refundable but is held as credit on the student's account for up to three years. An applicant who did not complete secondary school in Portuguese must declare B1 or higher and prove it with a DEPLE certificate, a B1 certificate from Coimbra's Faculty of Arts and Humanities, or a paid Portuguese exam there.
