Tuition applies to every student at Bergen with citizenship from outside the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, on any study programme. The annual rates for 2026/27 are NOK 197,000 for the humanities and language master's degrees, including Digital Culture, Linguistics, Philosophy, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish Language and Latin-American Studies; NOK 226,000 for the sciences, including Biomedical Sciences and Applied and Computational Mathematics; and NOK 401,704 for Design, Fine Art and Music Performance and Composition. The rates are adjusted annually and an admitted applicant is told the exact figure with the offer. A semester fee of about NOK 650 to 700 is charged each term on top, including a small voluntary contribution to the Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund, and no tuition exemption covers it. Applicants from outside the EU and the EEA who live outside Norway must also document funds for living costs, which Bergen states as NOK 166,859 for a stay of two semesters or longer, in addition to the tuition. Exemption categories exist and have to be claimed with documents at the point of applying.
