English test waiver

Bergen accepts IELTS Academic, including IELTS Online, at a minimum overall band of 6.5 with at least 6.5 in each of listening, reading, speaking and writing, and states that IELTS One Skill Retake scores are not accepted. TOEFL iBT, including the Home Edition, needs a minimum total of 90, and TOEFL MyBest scores are not accepted. PTE Academic needs a minimum overall score of 62. A result must be valid and not older than two years on the date of the application deadline, and the official copy uploaded has to show a legible TRF number in the bottom right corner so Bergen can verify it online. A test is not needed for an applicant who completed the International Baccalaureate with English at Higher Level grade 4 or Standard Level grade 6, who completed their entire upper secondary education in Australia, Canada or Ireland, or who completed at least one year of university study in academic subjects taught in English in those countries. Bergen also warns that a programme may set a higher bar than the general minimum, and that no exemption from uploading a test applies in that case.
