Admission at a glance
International applicants to the University of Balamand apply through the same Office of Admissions and Registration that processes all applicants, choosing between the Undergraduate and Graduate admission tracks on the university's Prospective Students pages. Undergraduate applicants holding the Lebanese Baccalaureate or an equivalent (IB, IGCSE, French Baccalaureate) normally sit the SAT, unless they qualify for one of the stated exemptions (transfer students with a year or 20 transferable credits completed, Arts and Sciences non-scientific majors, Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts majors, French-taught majors, or Tourism and Hotel Management). Admission decisions weigh SAT results and Grade 10 and 11 averages equally, each at 50 percent, while Grade 12 results must still be submitted before registration. Applicants to the Freshman programme need a set SAT or ACT score (SAT 870 for Freshman Arts, 950 for Freshman Sciences; ACT 15 and 17 respectively) and must also obtain Ministry of Education permission to pursue a foreign programme of study. Graduate applicants need a bachelor's degree from a recognised institution with an undergraduate average of at least 80 out of 100, or conditional admission at 77 and above. All applicants to programmes taught in English must meet the university's English Language Proficiency table unless they already hold a University of Balamand undergraduate degree. The International Students Office supports visa, residency and degree-equivalency steps once a candidate is admitted, and separate entrance and language exam dates are published each cycle for the SAT-exempt and French-track routes.
