Admission at a glance
International applicants apply online. Undergraduate applicants use the university's online admission system, and postgraduate applicants use a separate graduate application system. The university welcomes international students to its undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, which cover agriculture, veterinary medicine, forestry, wildlife and tourism, food science, economics and business, education and the social sciences.
For postgraduate study, Sokoine University of Agriculture invites applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. Postgraduate diploma, master's and PhD programmes by coursework and dissertation are admitted once a year for an academic year that starts in October, and applications for these programmes close on 31 October 2026. Master's and PhD programmes by research and thesis accept applications at any time of the year. A master's applicant needs a bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 2.7 from an approved institution. International applicants pay an application fee of USD 20 for postgraduate programmes, by bank transfer to the university's USD account, and international master's students pay tuition of USD 1,208 to USD 1,514 a year for the programmes in the published fee structure, with "Other Internationals" charged more than SADC students.
For undergraduate study, the second application window for 2026/2027 opened on 8 September 2026 and closed on 21 September 2026. Degree tuition is listed as TZS 9,014,400 for international students in most programmes. Applicants with certificates not issued by NECTA or NACTE write to the admissions office with copies of their certificates.
