  • Equivalent entry: at least four O-Level passes at D or above, or NTA Level III with four O-Level passes, or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by NECTA or VETA, plus a diploma GPA of at least 3.0 (or an average of B for a Full Technician Certificate).
  • Programmes add their own subject rules. For example, the BSc in Agriculture needs two principal passes (4 points) in Biology and one of Chemistry, Physics, Geography or Agriculture.
  • Applicants who are not Tanzanians and whose certificates were not issued by NECTA or NACTE should send an application letter and copies of their certificates to admission@sua.ac.tz, with a copy to dus@sua.ac.tz.

  • Certified academic certificates and transcripts. Applicants with foreign secondary school certificates who are in Tanzania arrange equivalence with NECTA and NACTE before applying.
  • Proof of payment of the application fee: USD 20 for international postgraduate applicants, TZS 10,000 for undergraduate applicants as advertised for the second window.
  • English proficiency evidence for international applicants (IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent).
  • Master's by research and thesis: a research concept note for a relevant research topic.

How to apply

  1. Choose a programme from the 2026/2027 undergraduate guidebook or the postgraduate advert and check the entry requirements.
  2. Apply online: undergraduate through the SUA online admission system, postgraduate through the graduate application system.
  3. Attach your photograph and academic documents before final submission.
  4. Pay the application fee. International postgraduate applicants deposit or transfer USD 20 to the university's NBC Bank USD collection account in Morogoro and quote the control number in the bank transfer form.
  5. Submit before the deadline: 31 October 2026 for postgraduate coursework programmes. Successful postgraduate candidates are notified after the Senate approves and are expected to start studies in October 2026.

English test waiver

Sokoine University of Agriculture states an English rule for international applicants but no minimum score: its Directorate of Undergraduate Studies lists English proficiency as "IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent" for international students. No IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo minimum is given, so applicants should ask the Directorate (dus@sua.ac.tz) which score it will accept. Separately, several undergraduate programmes require a pass in English at O-Level or an English-related subject at A-Level, as set out in the programme entry requirements.
