Admission at a glance

International applicants to the Master of Science in Nursing at the Open University of Sri Lanka apply through the same route as OUSL's other foreign-national admissions, coordinated by the International Relations Unit (IRU) together with the Department of Nursing. A prospective applicant first confirms that the programme's entry requirements are met: a Bachelor's Degree of SLQF Level 5 in Nursing, a qualification of SLQF Level 6 or above in Nursing, or an equivalent qualification accepted by the Senate, combined with a selection test and/or an interview. Because the programme is conducted in English, an applicant whose earlier education was not in English must also meet OUSL's English-language proficiency rule (TOEFL 79 or IELTS 6.5). The programme page states plainly that overseas applicants are welcome and that the programme is open for international students. Application forms are submitted online, together with certified copies of educational and professional qualification certificates, a birth certificate, and a passport, following the same document checklist the IRU sets for all foreign-national applicants. Once an application is selected, the IRU contacts the candidate by email about immigration procedures, and the University assists with the entry visa and, where the stay exceeds the visa's initial period, the resident student visa. International applicants pay OUSL's overseas tuition schedule rather than the local fee: for the Master of Science in Nursing this is a total programme fee of US$6,600, charged at US$110 per credit across 60 credits, with a 50% scholarship for students from developing countries. The current intake's applications opened on September 8, 2026 and close on October 8, 2026.
