English test waiver

NMBU sets a higher English bar than most Norwegian universities and says so: its requirement is above the national GSU list. For master's programmes it asks for IELTS Academic 7.0 overall, TOEFL iBT or Home Edition 92, PTE Academic 65, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency at grade C or better, or a pass in the Michigan ECPE or ECCE. For its one English-taught bachelor's, International Environment and Development Studies, the bar is lower: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80, PTE 59, or Cambridge First at B2 grade B. That IELTS 7.0 for master's is half a band above NTNU and the University of Bergen, which both ask 6.5. A test is not needed after at least one year of university study in Great Britain, Ireland, the USA, Canada, New Zealand or Australia, after a bachelor's or 60 ECTS of master's study taught in English in a Nordic country or the Netherlands, or where the applicant was educated in a country the GSU list shows with no English requirement; countries marked Yes, Yes 1 to Yes 4 must document English. Branch campuses, franchised and validated programmes and distance learning do not exempt, and neither does working or living in an English-speaking country. Institutional codes: TOEFL 8457, IELTS 6935.
