North South University Admission Requirements 2027

North South University (NSU) is a private university in Dhaka and one of Bangladesh's largest private universities, teaching in English on a US-style credit hour system. Undergraduate admission is by GPA or standardised test score, with the admission test waived for many applicants, and international applicants apply directly to the university's own international admissions office.

Requirements

Bachelor

Meet one of: a combined SSC and HSC GPA of 8.0 with a minimum of 3.5 in each; GCE O-Levels in five subjects averaging grade 2.5 plus A-Levels in two subjects averaging grade 2.0; an IB Diploma averaging at least 4.0 out of 7.0; or a US high school diploma with at least 60 percent marks. Non-English-medium applicants also need SAT 1100, IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL PBT 514 / CBT 180 / iBT 72. Engineering applicants need at least a B grade in HSC Physics and Mathematics; Pharmacy applicants need at least an A minus in SSC and HSC Chemistry and Biology and at least a B in Physics and Mathematics. The admission test itself is waived for SAT 1150, IELTS 7.0, or TOEFL PBT 563 / CBT 223 / iBT 85 or above, with some programme exceptions.

Documents

Middle school transcripts and certificates (10th grade equivalent), high school transcripts and certificates (12th grade equivalent), a passport copy, a statement from the applicant's home institution confirming the medium of instruction was English (for international applicants), and medical checkup or health certificates.

How to apply

  1. Submit academic transcripts, certificates and a passport copy through NSU's admissions office.
  2. Confirm English proficiency by SAT, IELTS or TOEFL score, or a letter confirming English medium prior schooling.
  3. Pay the application fee (2,000 taka by bank, or 2,031 taka by bKash) and sit the admission test unless it is waived by a qualifying test score.
  4. Receive and accept the admission decision.
  5. Pay the admission fee and first semester charges, then collect the NSU ID card from the Registrar's Office.

English test waiver

North South University's undergraduate admission test is waived for applicants who score SAT 1150 or above, IELTS 7.0 or above, or TOEFL PBT 563 / CBT 223 / iBT 85 or above, with some programme restrictions the university's page does not fully detail. For international or foreign schooled applicants specifically, the minimum accepted is SAT 1100, IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL PBT 514 / CBT 180 / iBT 72, used as an alternative where prior schooling was not in English.
