National Taiwan University Admission Requirements 2027

National Taiwan University in Taipei is Taiwan's leading university and admits international degree students in two rounds for a September start and one for February. Tuition is charged per semester, from NT$50,460 in liberal arts to NT$79,120 in medicine for international undergraduates, roughly double the local rate. English-taught programmes need CEFR B2, and conditional admission gives a year to produce the certificate.

English test waiver

NTU sets the language requirement by the language the programme is taught in. For an English-taught programme the minimum is CEFR B2, accepted as TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS Academic 5.5 or TOEIC 785. For a Chinese-taught programme it is Chinese at CEFR A2, accepted as TOCFL Band A Level 2 or HSK Level 4, and a TOCFL certificate must be the original PDF downloaded from the TOCFL system. These are university floors: departments may require more, and NTU states a department may reject an applicant or give a conditional offer where the university minimum is met but the department's is not. Applicants whose previous degree was taught in the relevant language are exempt on a certificate from that institution, as are applicants from countries on NTU's English-speaking list, whom the application system exempts automatically. An applicant short of the bar can accept a conditional offer and has up to one year to produce the certificate, spending it at NTU's Chinese Language Division for Chinese; the offer is cancelled if the year passes. International sophomore entry offers no conditional admission.
